Note: International Military Antiques originally offered for sale the Purple Heart awarded to Jack R. Franklin RDM3c; Item #ON10623. However, they posted the following comment about the sale: "Based on your feedback and our own conversations, we have decided to donate this medal to the World War II Foundation where we know it will have a permanent home where students and the public can learn more about the tragic story of the USS Indianapolis and the many heroes who served on her." Also stated was, "Due to the sensitive nature of the Purple Heart medal, multiple efforts were made to repatriate this medal to the family but those efforts were refused." https://www.ima-usa.com/products/original-u-s-wwii-uss-indianapolis-kia-named-purple-heart-medal-with-documentation?variant=31129851068485 The WWII Foundation is located in South Kingstown, RI. On 31 Mar 2016, a private collector, "Tarbridge" posted a notice and photo of Jack Franklin's Purple Heart stating it is now in his personal collection. Was it ever donated to the WWII Foundation? If so, why was it not kept by the WWII Foundation? Did the family have two Purple Hearts in their possession? I do not know. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/261540-ltcommander-kyle-c-mooredamage-control-officeruss-indianapolis/page/3/
