SCHAAP, Marion J
Quartermaster First Class Schapp was born on August 31, 1921. He enlisted in the service of the US Navy August 13, 1942, at Sioux City, Iowa.
He took boot training at San Diego, California for four weeks. From there he went to Bremerton, Washington and left the U. S. for sea duty on October 14, 1942. At Dutch Harbor, he was assigned to USS Indianapolis on which he served until he lost his life when Indianapolis was torpedoed by the enemy on July 30, 1945.
