WAKEFIELD, James N
Seaman First Class Wakefield was born on September 7, 1910, in Findlay, Ohio. His home was in Tulsa, Oklahoma. James entered the Navy in April 1944.
Project 888He went aboard USS Indianapolis on December 1, 1944. He participated in the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was survived by his wife, Velma Elizabeth Wakefield and two children: daughter, Vera Jo and son, Earl Austin Wakefield, a brother, John Wakefield and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Stone and Mrs. Leland Thorne. James received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the Purple Heart.
