Wednesday July 30, 2025, will mark the 80th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the USS Indianapolis CA-35. On this solemn day, Indy's lost at sea family members, survivor families, Honorary Survivors, and friends of Indy's story, will be standing watch at our CA-35 Memorial by the canal in downtown Indianapolis. Our Honor Watch will begin at sunrise, and we will stand down late in the afternoon. (The address is 692 Ellsworth Street. W. Walnut Street is the cross street.)

At 10 am, Roaring Thunder Chapter 1, will be honoring and remembering the 31 Indy Hoosier Heroes who were killed in action. Family members of these Indy lost at sea heroes will be in attendance. Our 10th Annual USS Indianapolis CA-35 Honor Watch will be held in conjunction with our 80th anniversary reunion at the Omni Severin Hotel July 27-30.

Brig., General J. Stewart Goodwin, (USAF Air Force retired) Co-Founder of our Annual USS Indianapolis Honor Watch, and Executive Director of the Indiana War Memorial, active military and veterans, musicians, local media, and other special guests, will be joining us to honor and remember a historic ship, whose Gold Star Heroes and shipmates helped ensure peace for future generations.
